I’ll start this guide with a famous metaphor from the movie 3 Idiots – “All is well”. The film also sheds light on the origin of fear and how one can conquer fear by calming one’s mind.
I was watching The Kapil Sharma Show Anushka Sharma episode for “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” in which she shared how she used to calm her mind to deal with the cold weather while shooting in the mountains.
Many motivational speakers suggest to the audience to calm their mind to avoid the participation of fear in making any decisions, performing among people, representing something, or simply speaking in public.
Years ago, I used to read somewhere to look in the mirror and say to myself “I can do this” every day and that’s how you would get the courage to do certain things.
Why psych the mind?
We never know how often we miss out on a golden opportunity, simply because we have fear.
The thought of anything is born in our mind and if such thoughts dominate our decision, it can deceive us even before we can perform in the situation.
Interesting human brain
Psychology is the best subject that everyone should learn. Human psychology can tell you a lot about people’s changed behaviour, how they react to a situation, what they are going to say when asked a question, and much more.
Once a pilot encountered some technical glitch which could take around 30 minutes and wanted to announce the delay to the passengers.
A lady politely announced that the flight might be delayed by 2 hours due to some technical difficulties.
The pilot asked the lady about it and she said that “when the defects are resolved in 30 minutes and when we share it with the passengers, they are happy that we did 2 hours of work in 30 minutes and Will find our services impressive. And if we tell them it will take 30 minutes, they will leave their trip with negative impression of us.
The above incident explains the business mind, smartness, human psychology and how to deal with the situation.
Do you think the biggest stars don’t get angry?
Our (India) Hon. Prime Minister – Narendra Modiji, Amitabh Bachchan, Sadhguru, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Priyanka Chopra. These are some of the living legends that come to my mind when I think of people who have trained their minds better.
When journalists ask silly questions, when opposition barks, when there is public controversy, when media exposes something stupid, when fans troll, when articles post something personal, and under pressure to perform, they all get angry.
After all, we are all human.
But, we rarely see them angry in public. This is because of how they mentally influence their mind to remain stable in different situations.
Worth to consider
I used to believe that “anger is real, love can be fake”, but after watching a video of Sadhguru – a famous motivational speaker, my philosophy has changed.
When an interviewer asked him, “We have never seen you get angry, do you get angry like us?”
He laughed and replied that “No one can make me angry, happy or sad. I kept these privileges to myself.”
How cool is that!!!
Your mind helps you create the personality you want because this is the head office. Whatever you store there, it will come out. If you have hatred or jealousy for someone, you will always speak up and behave negatively in front of those people.
Don’t get me wrong as I am not suggesting you hide your valuable feelings. It’s all about how you obey your mind and reach your goals.
Sometimes we lose our cool and make wrong decisions.
Wittiness is a good way
I am always inspired by Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen’s witty answers whenever journalists ask them something silly or controversial.
The same thing happened with our former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayeeji. He was in Pakistan and a regional reporter proposed to marry him and bring her Kashmir as a wedding gift.
Without losing his temper, getting shy, or hesitation, he jokingly replied that “then I need the whole of Pakistan in dowry”. They all laughed at his quick and witty reply.
The lesson is – “Never take things personally, never” and “Never get offended” for better and bigger life goals.
People who have big life goals don’t waste their time in explaining everything to people. They just do good things, ignore false opinions and progress in their lives.
Instead of crying over the same situation over and over again, why not explain your mind, get up and follow the right path?
Don’t give entertainment content out of anger
As a child, I had a few finger-counting friends and a girl with whom I played with, used to tease me every time. I was always angry and irritated by her behaviour. Then, my mom told me that the girl is just looking for happiness by teasing and harassing you. Try to be neutral in front of her and she will never try to do that again.
I began to enjoy her creepy and annoying statements, and cut off her source of entertainment.
It was a win!
The power to calm the mind worked.
